Meet Darneen Christian

Darneen Christian is a captivating screen performer based in Wellington, celebrated for her searing talent, rich cultural presence, and emotionally commanding performances.
A graduate of Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, Darneen emerged as a standout talent while still completing her final year of training. She landed her breakthrough television role as Mehe Te Wehiwehi in the Māori supernatural action series The Dead Lands.
Her portrayal of Mehe—brave, layered, and quietly resilient—earned early industry attention and marked her as one of Aotearoa’s next up coming talents.
Most recently, Darneen led the feature film Kōkā, alongside another amazing TMH actress, Hinetu Dell. Darneen’s portrayal of Jo, creates a powerful, emotionally complex character at the centre of this highly anticipated narrative.
Her performance in Kōkā has been met with praise for its nuance, strength, and authenticity.
